- One of the things this terrible story highlights is the dangerous isolationism of home-schooling.
This type of 'reason' -- 'not the fault' of the one who done it -- was tried as a defense here in Kansas City. A purse-snatcher jumped in a vehicle and a Good Samaritan tried to help. The purse-snatcher slammed the vehicle into a building, mortally injuring the man who tried to help. And what was the defense? It was the fault of the doctors. They didn't treat him properly.
The nerve is breathtaking.
In both cases, that of the Good Samaritan, Jonathan U, and that of an abducted teen, the victim is blamed.
In the Kansas City case, the jury disagreed with that framing of the events and returned a verdict of guilty: Life without parole for 20 years.
And as for the conclusion that homeschooling caused the girl to be unable to think clearly concerning the perp, the number of stories concerning "pastor, sex, child" (Results 1 - 10 of about 2,670,000 for pastor sex child), or for "school, sex, child" (Results 1 - 10 of about 54,200,000 for school sex child) indicates that the problem of adults, or pastors, molesting schooled children, isn't unknown.
When the alleged rapist comes to trial, I hope the jury has its collective eyes open.
